UPC Seniors - Class of 2020

Updated: Aug 16

We want to congratulate our high school graduates: Alyssa Graf, Gracie Gravitt, Isaac Gravitt, Charli Roof, Allison Febinger (who has been playing piano for our worship services), and Angel Trevino (son of nursery worker, Jodi).

We encourage our congregation to send them your own well wishes. We will celebrate them with a luncheon at a future date when we are all able to gather again at the church for meals.

Charli is graduating from Grandview High School on June 13, and the rest are graduating from Cleburne High School on May 31.

Alyssa Graf

1. What has kept you busy and interested during high school?

In high school having a job at HEB and being in band, choir and clubs that are based on community service hours have definitely kept me busy. I have created so many memories in those groups and I have had so much fun. Really, with the last couple of months I’ve been working a lot and that has been keeping me very busy.

2. What are your plans for the immediate future?

To study nursing at Texas State where I will be attending in the fall, and to also try to work at HEB at the same time.

3. What do you hope/plan to be doing in 10 years?

I hope to have my own apartment or house and to be working in a hospital making a difference in the world and just working my way up in nursing until I can be a scrub nurse.

4. Do you have any favorite UPC moments or memories that you would like to share?

I really liked getting the opportunity to go to SHYC with the youth group. I had a lot of fun and grew deeper connections with our group and even with other groups of Presbyterian churches. I really liked talking with my small group and getting to know other people through faith.

5. Any further thoughts or words of wisdom that you would like to share?

I would just like to say thank you to my wonderful church and for helping me grow into the kind of

person I am today. Even though I can’t go to church as much as I want because of work, everyone has always welcomed me back and said they have missed me. It’s really nice to have a church family that loves you and gets super excited to see you.

Gracie Gravitt

1. What has kept you busy and interested during high school?

Band and hanging out with my friends and my freshman. These last couple of months have been hard because I haven’t gotten to see my friends and my family and I miss them so much.

2. What are your plans for the immediate future?

After I graduate I plan on getting some hands on experience at a local pest control company. I will be going to Hill College for two years and hoping to transfer to LSUS in Shreveport to study entomology and get my license to do pest control.

3. What do you hope/plan to be doing in 10 years?

I am hoping to be working at Vexcon in Louisiana. I want to have my license in both Texas and Louisiana so I can do pest control in either state.

4. Do you have any favorite UPC moments or memories that you would like to share?

I loved going to all the youth events like SHYC. I love when we did the escape room and when we went water skiing.

5. Any further thoughts or words of wisdom that you would like to share?

Never give up on your hopes and dreams. I have wanted to do pest control since I was about 8 or 9 years old. Always remember that you are loved, you are enough, and you are worthy. Never stop trying.

Isaac Gravitt

1. What has kept you busy and interested during high school?

Most definitely what kept me busy was my pre-chemistry class and the Buzz News which is our school video paper. I was in charge of editing the video, was lead anchor, and did sports highlights.

2. What are your plans for the immediate future?

I will be attending Southwestern Adventist University in Keene where I will major in Media and Communications with music.

3. What do you hope/plan to be doing in 10 years?

I would like to have my own house, settle down with a family and work full-time. I plan on doing a lot more in the audio production world, with photography, and making videos for other people.

4. Do you have any favorite UPC moments or memories that you would like to share?

My favorite UPC memory was when we first went to the University of Tulsa for Synod Youth Workshop. I never knew I would have such an amazing time in one week gathering closer to God and making new friends. Now here I am on the planning team for this youth conference and I love every second of it.

5. Any further thoughts or words of wisdom that you would like to share?

Make every moment count because you never know when it will be your last time to do something you really enjoy. This senior year didn't go like we all expected. Use your time wisely, don't wait to the last moment to find out something you really love, because as the seniors found out, you don't know when will be your last time to go back.

Charli Roof

1. What has kept you busy and interested during high school?

I've been kept busy by cheer, one-act play, FCCLA, and having fun with friends. These last couple of months I've talked to my friends and discovered new activities I enjoy like tennis and art.

2. What are your plans for the immediate future?

My plans are to attend Tyler Junior College and become a dental hygienist.

3. What do you hope/plan to be doing in 10 years?

I hope to have a good job as a dental hygienist and be marred.

4. Do you have any favorite UPC moments or memories that you would like to share?

I always loved helping with VBS, and getting to sit next to Jack Hunnicutt every Sunday are two of my favorite memories from UPC.

5. Any further thoughts or words of wisdom that you would like to share?

That the people at UPC ave always felt like a second family to me, and I'm so grateful to have grown up surrounded by such amazing people.

Allison Febinger

Allison is working at Whataburger and planning to attend UNT Denton in the fall, majoring in music or piano and minoring in AV Tech and Advertising.

Angel Trevino

Angel wants to be a pilot and is planning to take classes at Hill College and then transfer to Tarleton.
